Kevin Dougher brings a varied background and 35 years experience as a licensed attorney to our clients.  

Following graduation from Wittenberg University and Case Western Reserve University School of Law, Mr. Dougher spent four years as an associate with Price Waterhouse , serving in both the Cleveland, Ohio and San Francisco, California offices providing tax consulting services to clients with a special emphasis in personal income tax and qualified retirement plans.

In 1991 Kevin joined  Rooney Optical, Inc. as General Counsel for this privately held optical manufacturing laboratory serving eye care professionals in Ohio and surrounding states.  In 1995 he purchased a controlling interest in the company and assumed the duties of President and CEO.  

He led  the company for the next 20 years with primary responsibility for all strategic, financial, management and operating decisions.  His experience includes managing customer, employee, vendor and financial relationships.  The company maintained a competitive position in a consolidating industry until 2014, when they completed the successful sale of the company to Essilor, the world's largest optical lens and technology company.   Following the sale, Kevin continued with Essilor as a consultant for a period of one year.

In 2016 Kevin opened the Law Office of Kevin A. Dougher LLC to bring his experience  as an attorney and business owner to his clients.  Since returning to the practice of law full time, he has worked with numerous families and individuals in creating and updating their estate plans as well as guiding them through the probate process.  In addition, he works  with many small business owners and professionals representing them in  a broad array of services including  business financing, business structure, real estate transactions, vendor relations, employment relations and in the sale of their companies and practices.  

Mr. Porter provides high level litigation and counseling skills developed during his service with two of Cleveland's largest law firms.  He earned his law degree from Rutgers University School of Law, where he graduated in the top 15% of his class, and was a Mock Trial national Team Member.  

Mr. Porter is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland.  Thereafter, he earned a Masters Degree in History from the University of Maryland while on active duty as a naval officer.  He is admitted to all state and federal courts in Ohio as well as the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.  Mr. Porter is a member of various local bar associations.  In addition, he has the honor of having been made a life member of the Eighth District Judicial Conference, a convocation of judges and lawyers who  meet to improve the legal system in Cuyahoga County and in general.  

Mr. Porter is active as an elected councilman for his home town of South Russel, Ohio.  He has tried more than 40 cases before juries, judges and arbitrators in criminal and civil cases, and has been a welcome addition to our litigation capacity.  

Karin Kan was born in Texas and grew up in Southern California.  After College, she worked as a paralegal for an immigration and human rights attorney.  Ms. Kan then moved to New York City and graduated law school from St. John's University School of Law.  She was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 2016.

Karin worked extensively in public interest law with Catholic Charities of New York, Cincinnati and Legal  Aid Society of Southwest Ohio.  She gained invaluable experience working on family matters, criminal defense and immigration actions.  Ms. Kan also worked as a public defender for Erie County where she represented clients in custody matters , child support and guardianship matters.

Karin is a passionate advocate in assisting clients in navigating the often complex legal system and protecting their rights, and  provides our clients with strong advocate in all aspects of family and immigration law.
